Tourniquets and Haemostatic Dressings Level 2 (VTQ)

We are aware that suitable training on Tourniquets and Haemostatic Dressings is a must so that they can be used safely. This a reccommendation of the recent 2021 ERC first aid changes and the 2017 Tourniquet changes. We understand that catastrophic bleeding can kill someone quickly and effective management of a casualty with this life threatening condition is a serious matter.Therefore we think it is a life skill that one should have anywhere as the incidence of knife crimes become prevalent.


This course covers the application of torniquets that can be bought anywhere such with brand names such as RapidStop, CAT, MAT, SOFT T, SAM XT, STAT. The Haemostatic dressings we will deal with include brand names such as Celox, Quick Clot, Axiostat and other Haemostatic dressings and powders. The course also covers trauma dressings, including the Air Wrap dressings.

In this course we follow the guideline of the HSE with the critical packs in mind.
